Why Untilum exists
Important words should reach the person they were meant for
This is the founder’s personal story. It leaves out names and dates because its meaning is not a biography—it is a letter that was never found.
When my mother knew that she would soon be gone, she said she would write each of us a letter to find after her death.
I never found mine. I know it exists somewhere in a home I no longer have—a home taken from me by war. I understand that I will probably never return and may never recover those words.
As a child, I had stories recorded by my grandfather. He died when I was very young, but the recording kept his voice and presence close. Over time, media ages, formats disappear and devices stop existing.
A home can be lost. Media can become obsolete. A platform can close. Important words should still reach the person they were meant for.
That is why I am building Untilum: so someone can leave a letter, photograph or voice for their children and loved ones; say what cannot be said today; and let the message arrive when it will matter most.
Untilum does not promise eternity. It is designed to make a message depend as little as possible on one home, device, storage medium, application or company.
